A meeting of the Sons of Barnabas
was convened
over lunch on
Wednesday June 7, 2006
11:00 AM at the Royal Oaks Manor
A short five weeks
later, Dr. Ted went home. His
"beloved Dorothy" was waiting, as was his Lord with
the words "well done." We knew the
day would come - but the news hit hard.
We came together that day in
June as the “Sons of Barnabas.” It’s an evocative and biblical label inspired by the the Apostle
Paul’s companion - nicknamed the “son of encouragement.” Dr.
Ted is a modern-day namesake. He has been a Barnabas
to scores of the Kingdom’s choicest servants – for decades.
We "sons" have had the distinct privilege of sitting across a
restaurant table from Ted and engaged in conversation – he’s invested countless hours in
us as an encourager, mentor and friend. We’ve been given a
priceless gift.
We expressed our
appreciation – first to Ted. And, we expressed our thoughts in the presence of other “Sons of Barnabas.” As we heard from each other
we expanded and deepened our sense of gratitude and purpose.
We affirmed our
determination to turn around and give to others as Ted has
given to us.
This web site is a report of
that memorable gathering. We want to share what
happened that day. Hopefully, the impact of those
hours will expand. Please click on the BLOG and share
your thoughts, experiences and encouragement to the rest of
us.
We trust you'll find resources
that will encourage you
Who are the Sons of Barnabas?
After reading this, you may
consider yourself a Son of Barnabas.
We are the men who have had a personal relationship with Ted
- and our lives have been indelibly marked. We share a
common commitment to pass along the gift of encouragement.
If that describes you - welcome! Let us know. We
want to hear your story.
We'll post
your thoughts on the site.
